1972 Italian Mebetoys Catalog

This catalog contains a mixture of Gran Toros and regular Mebetoys. It also shows that some of the regular Mebetoys started being packaged under the Gran Toros name. Note that 1972 was when Mattel S.p.A. began to discontinue the Hot Wheels Gran Toros line (Series Sputafuoco) and split the Mebetoys line into Series Mebetoys, Series Gran Super, Series Europa, and Series Gran Toros (non-Hot Wheels Gran Toros, also known as Sputafuoco.

The "Gran Toros" list page. This lists a mixture of actual Gran Toros along with regular Mebetoys. Note the all the Hot Wheels Gran Toros model numbers are four-digits and start with "66" (the Mebetoys have alfa numeric numbers starting with an "A").

The Hot Wheels Gran Toros were 1/43 scale Mattel Hot Wheels. When Mattel "lost interest" in the Gran Toros series (1972) the former Mebetoys company, now a Mattel division, began applying the Gran Toros name to non-Hot Wheels Gran Toros models.
